Number 1 of Day Tripper. Welcome to my new project which encourages me to go out of my comfort zone and explore. I will go on a trip somewhere for the day, once every two weeks, I will take my Olympus Trip 35 film camera, and there are two rules and two guidelines.
- To be as cheap as possible
- Bring a picnic (not necessarily to eat outside, just a packed lunch but picnic sounds better)
- Take photos with my Olympus Trip RULE
- To hide something there RULE
You at the back, yes you – What do you mean hide something there? Very good question, in the two weeks between each trip I will plan and then make something, and once I’m on my trip I will hide it somewhere, along with a short note. Remember yesterdays post? You over there – why your Olympus Trip camera? Well, it has been my favourite camera and usually my favourite photos since I got it on my 17th birthday. You can’t see through the lens so it’s often guess work with framing, and you don’t have too much control over focusing, other than guessing the distance between you and the subject and switching it to that dial. It’s always my go to camera.
There will be no information about the place, just my photos.
Quick bit of info, my anxiety often keeps me away from ‘normal life’ and from adventures. I can turn into a hermit, honestly, and I don’t like it. Hence encouraging me to explore other places.
This week I visited the city of Colchester. Here are my favourite photos.
Where my treasure was hidden.
All these photos were taken on the same day. England just has fickle weather.

Side note: Day Tripper – absolutely nothing to do with the meaning of the song. I just love The Beatles, like a lot.
